Sometimes traditional remedies are just old wives' tales. But more times than not, they have endured for a reason: They work. Researchers have recently confirmed the effectiveness of another ancient solution: using the dried bark of a Phellodendron amurense, a tree native to Eastern Asia, to treat inflammatory diseases.

For this study, the researchers studied a substance derived from Phellodendron amurense bark called Cortex Phellodendri amurensis (CPA).

The researchers treated mice with CPA for three days in a row. Two hours after their last CPA treatments, they gave the mice an injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which causes endotoxemia. Endotoxemia can lead to shock, hemorrhages, and necrosis of the kidneys. The researchers then measured the survival rate, protein levels, and cytokine expression (part of the immune response) of the mice.

They found that CPA had a significant effect on the mice's survival rate and enabled them to better fight the effects of the LPS injection. It also helped their immune systems respond appropriately to the threat, demonstrating that CPA does indeed have effective anti-inflammatory effects and can be useful for assisting in the fight against inflammation-related disease in humans.

This is great news scientifically. But it's also good news for your skin. Skin without inflammation is healthier and better looking skin. It also turns out that Phellodendron amurense bark extract can do more than just fight inflammation. Since it is oil-soluble, it helps keep us from losing water through our skin and keeps skin hydrated, moisturized, and conditioned.

Phellodendron amurense bark extract has so many benefits, I made sure it was included in Système 41's Night Treatment, so that it can work its magic while you sleep. I'm glad it's also being recognized for its other powerful effects.

To your health, naturally,
